Toronto Home sales rose 10 per cent in April, just one of the 70 local Real Estate Markets across Canada that saw an increase in the number of Homes trading in the month of April.
These gains were widespread with Vancouver up 30 per cent, Calgary up 31 per cent and Montreal up 15 per cent.
Compared to 2008, home sales in Toronto were lower by 10.5 per cent, Vancouver down 17.4 per cent, Calgary down 21 per cent and Montreal down just 4.3 per cent.
Ottawa and Kitchener-Waterloo were the only Canadian cities showing a year-over-year increase in sales.
Prices remain lower than a year ago with the average April sale price at $306,366, about 3.2 per cent lower than April 2008.
This active spring Real Estate Market has prompted CREA to revise their forecast for the rest of 2009 to sales of 307,500 because of the strength of the British Columbia and Ontario sales.
