Toronto Real Estate October sales were 8,476, up 64 per cent from a year ago.

The average resale price in Toronto was $423,559, an increase of 20 per cent compared to October 2008.

The Toronto Real Estate Board reported the year to date sales were 74,721-up nine per cent compared to the first ten months of 2008.

Downtown Toronto Condos increased 15 per cent for the month of October 2009 compared to a year ago. The average resale Toronto Condominium price was $398,788 in the (C01) area.

North York Condos were also up a similar amount as they competed very well with a 16 per cent increase to $$338,703 from October 2008.

Condos in the Yorkville area increased 37 per cent when compared to the same period last year. The average resale price in this area (C02) was $594,814.

Last year the Toronto Real Estate market and the Toronto Condo market were affected by the global recession of 2008 and as a result sales started to drop month over month. As a result of the much lower than normal Real Estate sales of 2008, the 2009 figures are now showing higher than normal results.
