Toronto area new Home and Condo sales increased 24 per cent compared to 2008. A total of 33,165 new Homes and Condos sold in the Greater Toronto Area with most of these sales occurring in the second half of 2009.
December, 2009 registered stong sales with over 3,148 Homes and Condos sold that resulted in a five-fold increase over December, 2008.
According to the Toronto Real Estate Board strong sales are continuing in the first two weeks of 2010 with sales almost double from January 2009.
The average price of Toronto Homes and Condos in January was $395,307 up 19 per cent from $332,495 in the same month of 2009.
The Toronto Building Industry is projecting 29,000 Toronto Real Estate sales for 2010 reflecting concerns for the HST and also the withdrawal of Government stimulus that has held mortgage interest rates down.
