Toronto Custom Built Homes
When Toronto Real Estate prices were increasing monthly, small bungalows seen in this picture on the left, were purchased as tear down and custom built homes replaced them.
Many of these new custom homes were built in Bedford Park and Nortown on speculation, but now small builders and renovators are stepping back from the uncertainty of the current Toronto Real Estate Market. Some of these homes are left standing with builders shelving projects or putting properties up for sale halfway through construction. There are a few properties for sale with all the permits and zoning applications done but just the concrete basement completed and the price of these projects reflect the much higher building and labour costs of 2008.
Small-scale developers and builders are now waiting on the sidelines and in as little as six months purchasers looking for modern infill downtown housing will be out of luck because there will be no inventory.
